DOOM: The Dark Ages is the prequel to the critically acclaimed DOOM (2016) and DOOM Eternal that tells an epic cinematic story worthy of the DOOM Slayer’s legend. In this third installment of the modern DOOM series, players will step into the blood-stained boots of the DOOM Slayer, in this never-before-seen dark and sinister medieval war against Hell.
DOOM: The Dark Ages is a dark fantasy/sci-fi single-player experience that delivers the searing combat and over-the-top visuals of the incomparable DOOM franchise, powered by the latest idTech engine.

As the super weapon of gods and kings, shred enemies with devastating favorites like the Super Shotgun while also wielding a variety of new bone-chewing weapons, including the versatile Shield Saw. Get this game with the "Revelations" DLC (I left a review for that on its store page), best on a sale! And F-U-C-K Microslop for gutting id Software and basically killing it and id Tech Engine with it (laying off over half the staff, especially almost all legacy programmers and developers)...

Fantastic game, and my favorite of the new DOOM series. I am frustrated to see so much of Id Software laid off by Microsoft, considering it is one of the few of their studios which still puts out games. Amazing games, in fact.

I like that they took another approach to the modern Doom formula. Each of the three has its own very identifiable style and identity, and I have come to really like that they did that instead of just making the same game over and over.

I like it almost as much as DOOM Eternal, especially with the DLC, which improves it significantly. It's a big shame what happened to the people who worked on this game. The performance is incredibly smooth, the gameplay is different yet familiar, and the DLC is excellent. It's definitely worth playing. I went for 100% completion, and it was incredibly enjoyable. I never felt like I was grinding or anything (other than the two masteries, but those aren't that big of an issue).

Personally, the game felt rushed. The game is nowhere near as difficult as DOOM 2016 or Eternal. Even on max difficulty this game was a walk in the park. It's also BS that you need 8gb of Vram just to play, there's no option to turn the graphics lower to make it so that you don't need Vram. I had to get a whole new GPU to play this abomination of a game.
