FlatOut is proof that childhood trauma can be fun. You don’t race in this game. You enter a controlled disaster and pray the driver survives long enough to become airborne in style. The physics were stupid. The crashes were glorious. The minigames were unhinged. The memories are immortal. Modern racing games try to look realistic. FlatOut looked like a lawsuit and played like a masterpiece. Legendary game. Absolute madness. Peak childhood.

Good games make me feel young again. Remember when you finished school and came home and started it up, the same feeling now.

It's been almost 20 years since I played this game on the PS2 and seeing it pop up on steam, I nearly lost my sanity. This was my favorite childhood game from like 2004-2007. For a game made in the early 2000's, this one hits all the right spots and I'm soooo happy I get to play it again. Also, the playlist is pretty peak
