First impressions are that it really hits a great compromise between indirect control, real-time strategy, and 4x components. It removes most of the tedious micromanagement you'd see in a 4x, both in terms of economy and combat... and lets you focus on the high-level mage fantasy. Really quite unique. I have high hopes for it, but we'll see as I play more.
