When the wife of the best-selling writer Alan Wake disappears on their vacation, his search turns up pages from a thriller he doesn’t even remember writing. A Dark Presence stalks the small town of Bright Falls, pushing Wake to the brink of sanity in his fight to unravel the mystery and save his love.
Presented in the style of a TV series, Alan Wake features the trademark Remedy storytelling and pulse-pounding action sequences. I quite enjoyed this game and I was super excited to play alan wake 2 but I think maybe the publishers forgot to upload alan wake 2 to steam and instead uploaded it to epic games by mistake? hope this gets patched soon

Once you get over the clunky controls at the beginning (aiming with the flashlight and no reticle), the story is really enthrawling. I was along for the ride once they drop some big bombs about halfway through the gam...

I bought this game on sale for $2 and was expecting it to be just ok. I now find myself very disappointed that the sequel has been sentenced to life in EGS jail. Tim, if you're reading this I promise I will never make...

The gameplay still holds up. Player Models are very 2010 but the environment graphics are still pretty to look at. Story is peak, it is very easy to understand how this game created a cult following after it dropped. ...

I bought this game on sale for $2 and was expecting it to be just ok. I now find myself very disappointed that the sequel has been sentenced to life in EGS jail. Tim, if you're reading this I promise I will never make fun of you again if you allow it on Steam (and yes I realize it would have never been made without funding from Epic but a man can dream). Anyways this game is worth way more than $2. It's got that Remedy charm that I can't fully articulate. Can't recommend it enough.

Once you get over the clunky controls at the beginning (aiming with the flashlight and no reticle), the story is really enthrawling. I was along for the ride once they drop some big bombs about halfway through the game. I wish I played the remaster, and didn't realize I was playing on Hard Mode until the achievement came through lol.

The gameplay still holds up. Player Models are very 2010 but the environment graphics are still pretty to look at. Story is peak, it is very easy to understand how this game created a cult following after it dropped. Definitely a great game to play on a rainy day. Then replaying it after playing the sequel, it is crazy to see stuff actually setup the sequel. Highly recommend it.

It's a strange game. On the one hand, we have a good story that keeps the tension going until the very end. On the other hand, everything else in this game is either average or poorly done. The gameplay gets boring after 2-3 hours. There is no atmosphere of horror and fear here. The music is good, but its variety is small. Alan and Barry are interesting, the rest of the characters is just blank. It's not a bad game, but it's not good either.
