I remember Limbo hitting the YouTube Let's Play scene back when it dropped and has been on my wishlist since. An amazingly succinct but effective puzzle/platformer that has a surprisingly compelling narrative for those who spend a little extra time within its world than required outside of its single hour playtime. A great debut by Playdead which strongly sets them up for their next project.

I can't say this was really my type of game, and it definitely took me longer to finish than I expected. I even had to look up a few puzzle solutions because I got completely stuck. That said, I can absolutely appreciate what LIMBO was going for. The atmosphere, art style, sound design, and clever puzzle mechanics come together to create a unique experience. It wasn't a game I loved, but I can definitely see why it's so highly regarded.

gameplay doesn't hold up in 2026 but it's still a piece of history that showcases clever level design and how much you can do with very little. worth respect, even if the experience feels a little tedious in the current age.
