The 1950s were in full swing, and British Railways were kicking off the start of the radical modernisation plan, which would see steam locomotives retired in favour of brand new, diesel-powered traction.
Brush Traction developed the Type 2, which was designed to fill the 1000-1499 horsepower role, making them suitable on lower-priority passenger and freight trains. The first Type 2s entered service in the Eastern Region, however they soon found use across the country as the fleet grew in size, and with the introduction of TOPS, they were classified as the BR Class 31.
Multiple subclasses of the Class 31s were produced, particularly as technology progressed over time, however the standard locomotive was the 31/1, which featured steam heating boilers, a headcode display atop each cab, and multiple-working compatibility with many other diesel locomotives. The 31/1s were used on secondary passenger duties and lighter freight traffic – they would often be used in pairs for freight as their low power rating would make them prone to slipping.
The fleet of 263 locomotives were based across 12 depots throughout England, including in Thornaby Depot, where the 31s would take charge of trains across the Tees Valley Line.

A fantastic loco add-on for Tees Valley. The loco is beautifully modelled with fantastic sound. The cement wagons are as well a great addition to the route. Being vacuum braked, this loco is quite the challenge to run...
Great locomotive. Every aspect of the model shines. Really immersive sounds. Also physics seems was rightly implemented. Almost every single button and lever works. I can just recommend this.
Very nice DLC.. really enjoyed it. Its not so hard and very straighed forward. Very quick to learn. Only downside is, you have to pay 29,99 quid for tees valley line, and also this one for 13,99 quid. But if you all ...

Very nice DLC.. really enjoyed it. Its not so hard and very straighed forward. Very quick to learn. Only downside is, you have to pay 29,99 quid for tees valley line, and also this one for 13,99 quid. But if you all ready have the tees valley line DLC, this one is a nice add-on.

A fantastic loco add-on for Tees Valley. The loco is beautifully modelled with fantastic sound. The cement wagons are as well a great addition to the route. Being vacuum braked, this loco is quite the challenge to run, which makes it a fun ride.

So, this dlc's review status is "mixed." Investigating further, we find a bunch of idiots that don't know how this game works... *sigh* This is actually a really good dlc. Sounds good, handles well, and comes with some great rolling stock (PCA my beloved). On top of that, and interesting mix of freight and passenger services, including towing dead Class 101's, a role these loco's often found themselves in IRL. Overall, this is a quality DLC, and adds to the experience of Tees Valley Line.
