Ahead of No Man's Sky's 10th anniversary, Hello Games released The Swarm update. Something huge and ominous appeared in the skies above the planets — the Hive of Glass, an existential threat to the entire universe.
It can only be defeated together: on entering the game, travelers take a personality test and are sorted into three factions that must cooperate, strategize and compete in a shared war effort. Each player's contribution is tracked in the Galactic Atlas, and the most effective faction will be immortalized forever in the Space Anomaly.
The Swarm brings the biggest space battles in the game's history: hundreds of ships, swarms of combat drones, and a giant Hive laser capable of destroying entire freighter fleets. On planets: salvaging downed drones with a grav-cannon, exploration and sabotage of the swarm network. Rewards include a retro-sci-fi armor set, a new rifle and a huge jetpack.
