Hey, folks!
This is your friendly neighborhood ImaginedPanda, content designer on Heart of Iron, coming to you with today's Dev Corner. For our current iteration we will be talking about economic woes or how I stopped worrying and started to love The Great Depression. As you might have gathered from other Dev Corners we are looking at how we do Industrial or Economic gameplay and we on the content side of things are thinking about how we could make the narrative side more historical, interesting and just plain fun. So why not take the biggest economic event in the general time period of Hearts of Iron as a case study?
Currently we are using The Great Depression in different countries in the game as it had an impact all across the globe. Oftentimes, we tend to make these issues into National Spirits that give you a bunch of maluses that you then solve by taking a couple of focuses in your playthrough. On the team we’re trying to see if there could be other ways of dealing with these kinds of situations instead of focus time investing or other places in the game where these should manifest.
So we want to hear from you guys! How do you feel about starting with one of these maluses and how would you want to deal with these? Are you more trying to get rid of these fast or could you see yourself maybe leaning into these problems to get a better reward in the future?
