Trains are here! With the Martian Express pack by modders Lucian and Sylvain, you’ll finally be able to move your colonists and resources between stations facilitating access to far away domes and remote resource deposits. Other outside manned buildings will also be buildable near stations without needing a dome.
Key features
Welcome commuters! - Build your stations anywhere on the map and help your colonists get to work and back. Click on the info panel to see their reason for traveling and make sure that everyone gets their seat. otherwise, they’ll have to wait for the next train (and be frustrated, nobody likes to miss the train).
New tracks - Click and drag to create tracks that connect your stations. Tracks will be elevated allowing your rovers and drones to pass underneath together with power cables, while pipes can cross over them.
Same train, different cargo - Traveling on the red planet has never been safer (and efficient!). Trains will have 2 wagons to transport colonists and resources at the same time. Don't worry: they'll travel on the same track with no risk of collision. Build your trains in the stations, assign them to the connected tracks and watch them go.

The fact that the tracks can't go over 'uneven ground' in spite of it being a RAISED TRACK makes this pretty hard to use - you end up running track all over the place to avoid the 'uneven ground'. Hint for developer...

It has negative reviews for a reason, it literally doesn't work, even the mods don't fix it for me. Must be the worst DLC for any game ever.

I really think it's great addition to the game. Main thing here - is that you can dig rare and usual metals that are not right next to your dome! You just build a train line from extractor to your dome and boom - it ...

I didn't believe the reviews. I mean how could it be that bad? It is. Mods make it better, but don't fix it. It's not worth it. It's sad as it had so much potential.

twelve hours into a game and had a plan to build a train down to a vista dome but low and behold the tiny slope down there makes it impossible

The fact that the tracks can't go over 'uneven ground' in spite of it being a RAISED TRACK makes this pretty hard to use - you end up running track all over the place to avoid the 'uneven ground'. Hint for developers: Trains in the 1800's could bridge chasms and go up relatively steep inclines. THIS CAN'T EVEN GO OVER A PEBBLE.

... I feel this is not worth the price, although having trains is neat. While you can kinda flexibly place your trafcks, it's somewhat limited. It might ahve been my game ,but by the time trains really began to be useful as locations between my dome and and outskirts, I already had shuttles. Still, if you like trains... On balance: worth it But barely. (I would, however, suggest that you might also wish to wait for a discount. Because *barely* is a good descriptor at it's price.)

I really think it's great addition to the game. Main thing here - is that you can dig rare and usual metals that are not right next to your dome! You just build a train line from extractor to your dome and boom - it works. It's really opening a whole new set of possibilities - you can have 1 big digging dome and it can be connected to numerous extraction points, and you won't need to rebuild your digging dome all over the map. What else to say - I like trains :)
