Honestly, a great improvement over the first SteamWorld Dig game. The quality of life mprovements are awesome, and this game utilizes its tools way more than the first one. The areas are great too, making exploration much more enjoyable. Overall, if you're new to metroidvanias, this game is a must play.

Paced a bit poorly compared to the first game; I nearly fell off around the 2 to 4-hour mark. But once I got over the hump and played a couple more hours, I felt that familiar sense of power-scaling, albeit much more slowly than in the first game. If I had to put it in a sentence, I would say that the sequel feels slower and more-difficult than the first game, rather than it really expanding on the experience. Once I shifted my expectations, I enjoyed the rest of the game.
