A deep dive into Black Flag Resynced's naval gameplay

Ubisoft published a big breakdown of Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced's naval gameplay with lead naval-combat designer Guilhem Maren. Thanks to modern hardware, the world is now fully seamless — no loading screens between sea and cities. New navigation tools arrive: "Pathfinder" highlights your route on the water, while "Follow Sea" is a full autopilot. All 35 original shanties return, plus 10 new ones, with a dedicated song-selection wheel.

Forts are reworked: after a naval battle you'll land with your crew and break the garrison's morale to fight the commander. Dynamic Atmos weather adds storms, two types of waterspouts and area-damage lightning. The Kenway Fleet is now fully built into the game (it previously lived in a companion app) and generates passive income.

The Jackdaw's arsenal gets secondary fire modes for every weapon: a ram dash, the "Dead Man's Cohort" mortar, heated shot and shrapnel barrels. A new addition: officers with unique perks, while legendary ships return as the toughest endgame challenges with exclusive cosmetic rewards.
