Opis
Eventually, the men and women who called Esteria their home began mining a uniquely radiant silver from the nearby mountains, and development boomed. Towns were built, and the land became rich with life.
Then, all at once, monsters began to appear. Only a few at first – but soon enough, the land was swarming with them, and the Esterians had no choice but to hide in fear, remaining ever vigilant just to stay alive.
Our story begins with a young man who’d heard rumors of these misfortunes, and strove to verify them with his own eyes; a brave swordsman with an adventurous spirit bolstered by his own youthful naiveté.
His name was Adol Christin.
With no regard for his own safety, Adol set sail toward Esteria through a heretofore impassable barrier of neverending storms. There, he was destined to become ensconced within a 700 year-old mystery that would ultimately take him to a long-lost land nestled amongst the clouds...

Ys I is a great old RPG. Emphasis on old, because where I did find it really enjoyable. I can completley see why people wouldnèt enjoy a game like this enymore. The combat is just running into enemies from a 45 degree angle or you get hit going head on. Which did take a little getting used to, and the simplicity of it. But once it clicked with me I was running all around running into enemies trying to line up perfectly. It's just a good little time capsule of a game.

Had a super fun time with this game, very short rpg and my first Ys game. The game is relatively easy except for the final boss, which only took about 20 mins anyways but I wasn't mad about it. A couple of sidequests for each village gives you enough to do in this game. If it were any longer I doubt I would have enjoyed it as much but I will be playing more of Ys. Charming and kinda fun, but conterintuitive and sometimes BS gameplay (especially certain nightmarish boss fights even in low difficulties)

The charming character writing, occasionally excellent art, and pleasantly brisk overworld combat is completely overshadowed by the bland and confusing dungeons, the underbaked equipment and experience systems, and the awful, awful boss encounter design. Truly the worst fights I have ever endured. I'm happy for the people who enjoy this, but I just couldn't.
