Set in the fictionalized '80s Latin America, Cartel Tycoon tells the story of a time when the cocaine took over first the US, and then the whole world. Ridiculously rich drug kingpins rule over glorious empires, creating thousands of jobs. But a maelstrom of violence threatens this criminal underworld from within.
Build an empire of drug production and smuggling chains while managing rogue lieutenants, state authorities, and public opinion.
Rival gangs, the DEA, army and even the CIA all threaten your growing business. Death is inevitable, but not the end. When you die (it never really ends well for drug lords), crown your successor, and build your empire from the ruins all over again.
In Cartel Tycoon, failure is inevitable and violence begets more violence — but for the cunning kingpin, unimaginable profits await.

It gets really intense in story mode. You will need to save often and replay to adjust your strategy based on previous failures. You will feel frustrated. There are some game mechanics that will annoy you, but if you are stubborn like me - you will finally succeed. And be glad you made an effort.

Very fun game with fun management mechanics. I love the sense of progression you get as you grow your cartel, and I love the interactions between your Capo and their lieutenants. The game is very atmospheric with beautiful map design, some sick art, great audio, and many interesting storylines. It can be a little challenging at times but once you get used to the struggle, it can feel great to overcome the obstacles holding back your narco empire. My only wish would be to have more maps to play!

Sadly, the game feels cheap and is far worse than Tropico. I don’t like the way the UI works, the story and dialogues aren’t interesting and road connections don’t work as intended, even in the tutorial. It told me to connect the transport company to a road leading to the airport. I did exactly that, but the objective still wasn’t marked as complete. The game didn’t hook me at all, it's a bit dull, boring and frustrating. Awarding an achievement for pressing ALT+F4 is a nice touch though.
