Player Control over Muscle and Weight Changes
Based on feedback from our Discord Dev Q&As, we’ve added New Game Options to Toggle On/Off Muscle and Weight changes for Sims holistically across a save. Additionally, we’ve added new self-interactions on Sims to Toggle On/Off these changes for Sims individually. These settings are completely independent of each other, meaning you can choose to keep weight changes active while turning muscle changes off, though please note that these options do not extend to pets like Cats & Dogs or Horses. We hope these new features give you even more freedom to customize your game and play your way.

Food, Dining, & Drink Improvements
● Based on Discord Dev Q&A feedback, we moved the "Open" interaction to the front of the Pie Menu for Fridges. That should save a lot of time - great suggestion!
<Alt text: A mint green fridge showing various interactions on a pie menu. The “Open” interaction is at the front, rather than buried in “More Choices.”>
● We've done a comprehensive tuning pass updating pricing and calories for all food and drink items across Base Game and all packs. We wanted pricing and calories to be more consistent and sensical.
● Sims should now autonomously prefer eating Leftovers (in the Fridge or on the counter) when they are hungry, rather than creating a new meal from scratch.
● We’ve been hard at work expanding the “Family Recipes” feature from Businesses & Hobbies! We’re thrilled to announce that we’ve added over 375 pre-existing dishes (many of them cultural dishes) to the valid recipe pool across Base Game and all packs. A small handful of items didn’t make the cut (either due to technical issues or because they didn’t quite fit the criteria of a “family dish” - like graham crackers), but you can look forward to seeing almost all of your favorite recipes included! (Businesses & Hobbies)
● We've added a "Quickly Decorate" interaction on items made using the Baking Skill that uses a quick animation when these baked goods are not located on the center of a counter top. Previously, Sims would route fail, and it wasn't entirely clear why. (Get to Work)
<Alt text: A Sim who made a batch of Sugar Cookies using the Baking Skill is standing in front of a counter, but the cookies are at the far back of the counter and not reachable. The Pie Menu is open and there is a new “Quickly Decorate” interaction that is visible.>
A Little Dessert: BONUS Quality of Life Improvements
● Televisions are now able to be locked similarly to computers to ensure only certain Sims will use certain Televisions. As an example: You’ve built a playroom for your Child Sim, but the adults keep using that Child playroom TV… now, you can set it so only that specific Child uses it.
<Alt text: A Television that has been selected to open the Pie Menu. They are in the new “Lock Television for…” category and it is showing an array of different available types of Sims that can be locked from using this television.>
● As a Quality of Life update, we've moved all previously uncategorized interactions that are considered "self-interactions" into a new "Sim Options..." category that can be accessed by selecting the Sim that is actively played. Some examples of these interactions include: Disable Attraction (Lovestruck), Set Rock Paper Scissors Preferences (Adventure Awaits), Utensil Preference (Snowy Escape), and Sim Physique (Base Game).
<Alt text: A Sim that has been selected to open the Pie Menu. They are in the new Sim Options category and it is showing an array of different available interactions.>
● We've improved our Save Backup experience to calculate slightly differently. Previously, it wasn't always tracking as well as we'd have liked if a player didn't play for an extended period of time between sessions. Now, it will.
Bug Fixes
Top Community Fixes
● \ We've addressed an endless loading issue when placing lots that occurred due to excessive use of the Move Objects cheat. We updated the Navmesh (the thing that tells Sims where they can route or not) to be more robust to account for this. (Base Game)
● \ We’ve resolved an issue that caused an infinite white screen when attempting to load into certain affected save files. While some lot details in these saves may need a little rebuilding, you will now be able to safely jump back into your worlds and reunite with your households. (Base Game)
● \ Sims are now able to properly Order Food or Drinks from Bartenders while they are doing something else like socializing, Practicing Tricks, or other Bartender behavior. (Base Game)
● \ Infant Sims will now fall asleep properly without needing their Energy motive to be very low.
● \ Getting bitten by a werewolf now properly transforms Fairy Sims into full-time werewolves without the black visual corruption. (Enchanted by Nature & Werewolves)
● \ We addressed an instance of Sims remaining frozen that could occur after a Sim took a nap or performed other interactions. (Base Game)
● \ We fixed a case of visual corruption (eyes, ears, face) which could occur on an Active Sim during their Werewolf transformation after being bitten by another Werewolf. (Werewolves)
● \ We addressed an issue where a new Infant Sim representing a Reborn Sim was not added to the selected existing Household or appearing in Create a Sim for customization. This Reborn Sim will now be able to successfully complete the Rebirth process. (Life & Death)
● \ Fixed an issue that could cause Sims to get stuck and freeze while planning routing. (Base Game)
Food, Dining, & Drinks Bug Fixes
Base Game
● Sims are now more likely to stay seated when they are eating at a table. We fixed some multi-tasking issues around eating and conversations that were causing them to stand when they'd try to socialize while eating. There are still reasons why they might get up, but this experience should now be improved.
● Sims will no longer put food in inappropriate places in general (this includes display cases). We made it so that dining tables and counter tops were the primary locations Sims wanted to put dishes.
● Sims can now drag food that was prepared by another Sim into the fridge.
● \ We've updated the Cooking Volume 2 skill book title to have correct grammar. It now reads: Cooking Vol 2: Let's Keep Cooking!
● \ Sims will no longer get stuck in a state where they go jogging with food in their hand.
Dine Out
● We investigated Sims breaking flows and not properly dining, and we found this was caused by a VARIETY of different interactions across different packs. We did testing passes and fixed what we found, but please keep reporting and we’ll keep fixing. Overall though, this is feeling a lot better. Here is a breakdown:
\ Energized Customers will no longer be so PUMPED that they have to leave the table to go jogging.
\\ Sims will no longer autonomously view decor while visiting a Restaurant, which was resulting in them getting up from their seats.
\ Customers will no longer leave their table to go dig in the trash.
\ Hugs are nice, but when you're trying to eat they can be a little disruptive. Dining Sims will no longer get up to Hug or Hug Lovingly other Sims, which would pull them away from the table.
\ Homework may need to get done, but while dining out might not be the best time... Sims will no longer leave their table to go do University Homework. (Discover University)
\ Restaurant Customers will no longer become distracted by N.A.P. activities instead of dining. (Eco Lifestyle)
Dining customers will no longer watch TV while they wait for food. This was causing a situation where the customers would prioritize TV watching over restaurant behavior.
Sims will no longer autonomously get up to give themselves a Pep Talk in the Mirror when eating at a Restaurant. Self encouragement is great! Just maybeeeee not while trying to eat.
Celebrities are a big deal! But if you bought food at a restaurant, you really should try and eat it. Sims will no longer stop eating when Celebrities are around in Restaurants. (Get Famous)
No more zooming! Sims will no longer autonomously get up from dining at a Restaurant to go play with Paper Airplanes. (Adventure Awaits)
Sometimes dinner demands honor! Otherwise, you really just want your Sims to stay seated and eat... Sims will no longer autonomously get up to Duel each other with swords while eating at a Restaurant. (Royalty & Legacy)
● We addressed an issue where Sims would sometimes fail to show up for a Waiter shift at a Restaurant or where certain Customer Sims would not interact with Restaurant Employees. This was caused by some affected Employee Sims being special Sims with unique roles in other packs.
● Dining customers should now want to socialize less before they are seated. This resulted in them talking extensively instead of being seated. Silly chatterboxes.
● \ We did a balancing pass on some Dine Out recipes that were incorrectly tuned to require Cooking Skill Level 1, which was breaking the intended Chef Progression and Menu balance.
● \ Sims will no longer eat food standing, out of their hands at a Restaurant - rather than sitting to eat.
● \ Dishes will now be cleaned by Waiter Sims when multiple Sims have disposed of dishes at the same Waiter Station.
● \ We fixed an issue where certain Customer Sims would not interact with Restaurant Employees. This was caused by some affected Employee Sims being special Sims with unique roles in other packs.
● \ We addressed an issue where Sims would not remain seated and would stand while eating or drinking at a Restaurant. This related to square tables with a light that was placed in the middle causing the footprint to not work properly. We've readjusted the footprint so that they should function better, but there is the possibility some tables could be deleted from old builds because of the update, particularly if the Move Objects cheat was used on these tables.
● \ Added a fix for "Error Code: 123:6346675a" that could occur when traveling to certain Restaurants relating to a table “having no parts.” We couldn't reproduce this, but we added guardrails which should prevent this error from happening.
● \ Toilet Pranks, funny or obtrusive? The debate is still open, but they're certainly rather problematic at a Restaurant or Small Businesses. We've made it so they won't happen in these situations. (Dine Out and Businesses & Hobbies)
● \ Customers will now order Snowy Escape Menu items when selected for a Restaurant's Menu. (Dine Out and Snowy Escape)
● \ Funds will now be properly deducted or transferred to a Retail Business, Restaurant, Vet Business, or Household when a Small Business is "Open." (Get to Work, Cats & Dogs, Business & Hobbies, and Dine Out)
● Boba Tea will now have a liquid, cap, and straw when ordered from a Restaurant. (High School Years and Dine Out)
● A Restaurant Uniform will no longer return to the default Uniform after changing to a new staff outfit.
● Customers should no longer leave food or drinks unconsumed at a Restaurant before they checkout.
● There are now Hot and Cold Weather Outfit Category options when selecting "Guest Attire" in the Dine Out Restaurant Customer Dress Code settings.
● The game will no longer automatically swap to Create a Sim when changing a Staff Uniform in a Restaurant. This now only occurs when the Edit button is explicitly selected. This fix was unfortunately unable to be retroactive in old saves.
● Honorable Mention: \ We investigated a report where "Restaurant fridges break repeatedly right after being repaired or upgraded." and found that this was fixed in a previous update earlier this year (but not previously reported), so we are including it here as an update.
Seasons
● \ We addressed an issue where Food Stalls would remain closed during a Festival due to the way worlds load seasonal changes.
● Sims should no longer autonomously use grills when it is snowy, rainy, icy, or storming.
Eco Lifestyle
● \ Fizzy Juice prices no longer drop after the first sale on Food Stands. (Eco Lifestyle and Home Chef Hustle)
● Sims will now autonomously drink Fizzy Juices, Seltzer, and Kombucha when they are looking to have a little fun.
Cottage Living
● \ Sims can now Grill Salmon or Cook Raspberry Pie with the Simple Living Lot Challenge active.
Horse Ranch
● \ Sims will no longer sit down before pouring Nectar.
● The correct quantity of Nectar Bottles will now be accurately reported in the notification after selling Nectar Bottles on the Food Stand. (Horse Ranch and Home Chef Hustle)
For Rent
● \ Faux Meat Butter Chicken that has been cooked in a Pressure Cooker will no longer give the "Tainted with Meat" moodlet for a Vegetarian Sim.
● \ The FireBOSS Grill of Grilliness now has attributes like Cooking Skill and Food Quality.
● Sims will no longer obsessively use the Pressure Cooker, which was resulting in them ignoring other food.
Adventure Awaits
● \ Sims will now clean dishes when it is assigned as a Scheduled Activity in Custom Venues and Getaways.
Outdoor Retreat
● \ Sims will no longer ditch eating to go play Horseshoes. It's a fun game, but it can wait!
My Wedding Stories
● \ The Chinese-inspired food stand in Tartosa now sells food instead of produce.
October Crash Fixes & September Patch Crash Fix Update
As we continue to focus on stability, our October update includes 14 new crash and assert fixes. These issues are tricky to track down without exact in-game steps to reproduce, so we rely heavily on submitted crash data to piece together what went wrong. We are incredibly excited to share that the ~10 crash fixes from our September update resulted in a notable decrease in crash rates across all platforms! This targeted approach is proving effective, and we will keep hammering away at these issues.
While working through this month's fixes, our data showed that many top crash reports continue to be closely linked to outdated or conflicting mod files. Where possible, we’ve implemented "guardrails" in our code to help prevent these crashes, but some conflicts remain outside our direct control to resolve. Because custom content is such a vibrant and essential part of The Sims 4 experience, we want to empower you with the best information to keep your game running smoothly. If you play with mods, we highly recommend checking out our Mods & Game Updates Guide on the EA Forums for best practices on safely updating your files and getting back to playing.
Crash Fixes
● We've addressed a crash that was affecting a large number of players relating to signed files on Windows machines.
● We addressed a crash affecting a notable amount of players on PC and Mac that could occur when loading into lots relating to cursor and UI changes and how they're processed.
● We fixed an error message related to some Sim interactions unloading incorrectly during lot unload. This was a fairly harmless error related to a specific mod, but was affecting a large number of players.
● We've addressed a crash affecting a notable amount of players relating to a Sim failing to load due to incompatibilities with Traits.
● We addressed a crash that was occurring while launching the game via Origin, which was affecting a moderate amount of players.
● We believe we've addressed a crash that was occurring due to Navmesh issues via another fix we added in this release.
● We fixed a crash that would occur when a romance story arc advanced for Sims if they were a "romantic interest” or "lovebirds" and became "lovers."
● We addressed a crash that could occur when uploading a large family to the Gallery from Create a Sim.
● We addressed a PlayStation crash that could occur while the game was loading to the Main Menu, when two background network tasks that handle store data tried to process responses at the same time. These tasks now take turns, and the related store download handling has been made more robust.
● We fixed a mod-related crash that was caused by assigning a male uniform for a Retail lot. (Get to Work)
● We fixed an assert that could occur when placing Eco Lifestyle windows on a wall. (Eco Lifestyle)
● We've added a crash fix relating to Social Bunny App and reactions. (High School Years)
● We fixed an assert that could occur on a loading screen after reloading a save with an Infant in a Back Carrier. (Growing Together)
● We fixed an assert relating to Dynasties and moving a Household into another Household. (Royalty & Legacy)
Gallery
● Addressed an issue on the Gallery for console players where the game could become frozen for an excess of 20 seconds after accessing a player's Gallery Catalog.
Console
● Addressed an issue where the "Something Went Wrong" pop-up fails to close using a controller for PlayStation Simmers.
● We addressed a performance issue on PlayStation where the game was taking too long when loading from Live Mode to Build Mode.
Create a Sim
Base Game
● \ Base Layer filtering will no longer carry over between different Sims, and it should now have a Default Fashion Choice.
● \ Hair and eye color changes will no longer revert in Create a Sim when a new Full Body asset is selected and the "Apply to all Outfits" button is pressed.
● \ The (cuBody_Overalls) can now be applied to all outfit categories. This now also includes: Formal, Sleepwear, Party, Swimwear, Hot Weather, and Cold Weather.
Multiple
● \ We did a pass over all Locked Create a Sim assets and ensured that if an asset was locked it used red text consistently on the hovertext.
● \ The Base Layer category is no longer missing for Merfolk and Fairies while editing their Occult Forms in Create a Sim.
● \ We addressed an issue where changing an Occult Sim's form in CAS didn't properly align with the represented form in Live Mode.
Royalty & Legacy
● \ The Master of Grudges Aspiration will now also properly give a Sim the Dastardly Bonus Trait.
Werewolves
● Werewolf eyes, ears, and noses will no longer be visually distorted after aging from a Child to a Teen, and then transforming into a Werewolf.
Autonomy
Base Game
● \ Sims will no longer wake up from sleeping if another interaction is queued while they are already asleep.
● \ Visitors no longer immediately leave non-residential venues immediately.
● \ We investigated a report that Sims weren't receiving Birthday Party invites from other NPCs. This was because the criteria to get an invite and cooldowns around when it'd happen were too restrictive, so it was rarely being triggered. We've updated the cooldown, likelihood, and friendship/family requirement tuning. Our family tuning updates will make it so Sims in the same household don't invite sims to their own house when away, but it will allow family sims that live in different Households to still invite family members to their birthday parties.
● \ Sims can once again Kiss and Make Out while sitting together in a Hot Tub.
● Sims who Dislike Violin and are Uncomfortable will now get a "I Hate Violin" Moodlet when they use the Practice interaction.
● We addressed a Simulation error that occurs after trying to put an Infant down on the ground.
● Infants will once again be able to return from Daycare after the player travels to a Gym Lot.
Discover University
● \ We investigated a report where the Soccer interaction was getting stuck after being canceled, and believe our previous fixes around Sims freezing addressed this.
Lovestruck
● \ We fixed an issue where NPC Couples would spawn on Community Venue lots, remain idle and then immediately leave.
● \ We've made it even less likely that Romantic NPC Sims will aggressively stargaze at certain venues.
General
Base Game
● \ We addressed an instance of Save Corruption that was causing an infinite load screen when loading certain saves. These saves will now be loadable.
● \ The "New" Highlights in Build Mode will now disappear after opening and viewing the objects in Build Mode for Event Reward items.
● \ We fixed an assert that was causing an Active Household to receive a death notification and inventory pop up for a Sim that was still alive.
● \ The camera in basements will now adjust to the floor rather than the ceiling.
● \ We fixed an issue where no lots were displayed for certain saves. This was happening because of a previous fix where players had two worlds appearing.
Multiple
● \ Adjacent Apartments will no longer lose their furniture when loaded into.
Seasons
● \ Seasonal Seed packets can no longer be purchased via the Gift Option without having the Gardening Skill maxed.
Island Living
● \ Sims can once again swim in the deep water area around the Mua Pel'am diving buoy in Sulani.
● \ The "Swim" interactions on the oceans should once again appear for all players.

● \ The "Money Buys Happiness" moodlet will no longer remain when the Regal Residence Lot Trait is removed.
