Call to Glory Devlog- Heroic Mode and its rewards

The Heroic Mode combines the maximum level of Veteran Mode (previously Hard Mode), as well as introducing new mechanics and patterns that you will need to learn and master. Attacks may behave differently, new dangers appear during the fight and certain bosses have additional phases, completely changing the encounter and how you need to approach it!

You can try to triumph unprepared. However, it is advised to get prepared with consumables, good gear, and a brand new item, the Spark Cube. All of this can be crucial in a high-intensity fight on the new difficulty.

We designed Heroic Mode not only as a more difficult challenge in the dungeon, but also in response to the strategies you need to adopt to defeat the bosses in their original forms. See it as them learning from your previous run of those past months!

Let’s take Crabgantua, the second boss of our game, as an exemple. He has a fairly simple yet deadly attack pattern. You just have to dodge his powerful attacks and inflict enough damage to obtain the fragment shells necessary to survive his deadly “wave”. This can be difficult when you’re starting out, but by the time you reach the maximum level, it should be no secret for you.

In Heroic Mode, this fight also has two important additions:

  • Crabgantua can cast bubbles that roam around the arena and slow you. Making you more vulnerable to his attacks
  • A summoned crab will appear during the fight with the sole purpose of destroying fragment shells. Will you be able to get rid of him while distracting the boss?
  • Arena alteration like falling rocks that can deal a lot of damage on impact. Better be careful where you step foot.

This is just one example of the revamped challenges you’ll have to face. If you think you can manage it, we’d like to see you try! Crabgantua is currently available in Heroic Mode on our public test branch alongside Nepsilon, Ratsar and Reblochonk!

Epic Rewards for a Heroic difficulty

Overcoming a Heroic instance will reward you with unique items that can only be obtained there. These are Medals of Glory (MoGs) and Epic Gear.

Medals of Glory are a new type of reward associated with Heroic Mode. They can be exchanged for unique, high-level rewards. These include endgame gear, collectibles, and other rewards destined for players taking on the most difficult challenges in our game yet.
You will receive additional medals depending on if it is your first time completing the dungeon, if you are in a group, and so on.

Epic Gear is a new tier of equipment that is stronger than the current available ones and that can be earned at the end of an instance set in Heroic Mode. Not only do they provide better stats, but you can also infuse them to make them even stronger

The new Epic Gear you'll be able to get

Infusions are new bonuses that apply when infused to your epic gear. Stack the same infusion bonus across your items to activate exclusive set bonuses with powerful gameplay effects. Here's an exemple:

  • “Life-giving Spring” :
    • 2 pieces of gear infused: Skills grant a stack of tide, healing you for percentage of your max health
    • 4 pieces of gear infused: ~+2.5% Fervor
    • 6 pieces of gear infused: At 5 tides stack, you gain a 25% max health shield. When it expires, it explodes and deals that amount to nearby enemies and heal nearby allies for that amount (30s cd)

Your epic gear also has an “infusion bonus”, which increases its secondary attributes. Make sure the faction-themed infusion you’ll use matches the one of your gear. You can find prismatic bonuses that work with any faction-themed infusion, but they will be hard to get.
Infusions can be done at an infusing table by using Medals of Glory.

These are just the only direct rewards you can get from the instance. You can also gain unique mounts and collectibles by completing Achievements in Heroic Dungeons under certain conditions. There are plenty of opportunities to prove your skills and master the heroic dungeons!

We hope you enjoyed this Heroic Mode preview! Remember that all of this is currently being tested in the Public Test Branch and may change depending on your feedback. If you would like to try out the Heroic Dungeons, simply follow the guidelines in this blog post.
