Hey everyone,
We have been working on another update for Railroad Corporation 2. This one makes your game run smoother, with better performance, more reliable trains, much more efficient AI companies and a long list of quality-of-life improvements.
Staying on Track while Running Smoothly
A train now frees a crossing as soon as its last wagon has passed it. This fixes a deadlock where several trains at closely spaced crossings could block each other for good. We also fixed a case where a re-routed train could head straight into an oncoming one. Trains on a detour are no longer sent back and forth between the same stations.
Editing a route while a train is standing at a station no longer makes it load and get paid twice. The route panel now shows the live progress of each action at the station where the train is standing.
Managing Your Fleet
Train settings have a new “Apply to all” button that sets the selected maintenance condition for every train at once. In Game Options you can choose the default maintenance condition for newly bought trains.
The locomotive replacement dialog can now replace the locomotive on every train of the same model in one go.
Smarter AI Competitors
AI players have been majorly reworked. They play more like competitors now and take on delivery contracts, lobby for laws, bid more actively at auctions and extend their production chains on their own. Additionally, they expand more effectively and plan cheaper routes that go around difficult terrain instead of straight through it. AI players also upgrade their locomotives when better ones become available.
Improvements That Help You Manage Your Corporation
You can now reassign every hotkey in the new Hotkeys tab in Game Options.
Cargo buffer indicators above port and land warehouses are now arranged in rows. The letter dialog no longer opens behind other windows. In the Profit and Loss report, expenses are now listed from largest to smallest. Geology surveys have their own “Geology exploration” expense line and now reduce your taxable profit.
In multiplayer, the host can no longer rebuild track while a train is standing on it. The “Contract fulfilled” notification now goes to the company that actually fulfilled the contract, and the other players can see who fulfilled it.
